For the Working Mom: Meet your favourite new bag

I have been on the hunt for a laptop bag for a while and I finally found the bag of my dreams. The Parkland Remy Backpack is spacious, fits a laptop, power cord, lunch, water bottle and more. It’s a backpack but also has handles on top for another way to carry it. I take this bag everywhere now – it was even my carry-on bag for my recent trip to LA.   If you aren’t familiar with Parkland, they are the less expensive sister of Canadian brand Herschel. Parkland is carried by various online retailers including Indigo so you can watch for deals. I got mine 25% off on Indigo plus my Rakatun rebate!

For the Mom-To-Be: Leggings you can live in!

If you are a casual mama like me, then a good pair of leggings in your wardrobe is essential! I’ve done a lot of research on the best leggings for postpartum mamas which you can read here. Preggo Leggings are of amazing quality and offer support to your belly making them a favourite for both moms-to-be and new moms. They are not cheap, but are a good investment if you live in leggings.

For the New Mom: Get a massage at home

Baby is here and no surprise it’s kind of hard to leave the house and it might be for a while.  However, more than ever you need some self-care.  Insert Mama Mobile Massage, your chance to get a massage in the comfort of your own home.  While I know there are other mobile massage companies, this one is dedicated to mom which means if you need to stop to feed, or change a diaper you can without cutting into your massage time.   A week after delivering my first, I had a massage scheduled for both me & my husband – it was great and so needed after pregnancy and labour.  Your greatest challenge will be to not fall asleep on the massage table. Also all Mama Mobile Massage therapists are registered so you can claim through your insurance benefits.

For the Mat Leave Mom: Winter walking gear

Winter has come a little early, but you don’t need to let that stop you from enjoying winter walks with your babe!  The key is to make sure you have the right gear including these cosy hats, mittens and leg warming sock from Lululemon.  For me baring the cold winter requires that I am dressed warm and in my winter chic look. PS Don’t forget those socks go great with leggings. You can read about all our favourite postpartum leggings here or head straight to Lululemon to grab our favourite from the Align series.

For the Exploring Mom: Be a tourist in your own town with CityPass

If like me you’ll be around over the holiday break and like me you want to keep your kids occupied then the Toronto CityPass is the thing for you! We’ve purchased the Toronto Citypass for the past three years and we have loved it! With the CityPass you get entry into 5 attractions to be used across 9 days.  The attractions include Casa Loma, ROM, Ripley’s Aquarium, CN Tower, Science Centre or Toronto Zoo. My personal favourite spot was Casa Loma for all their holiday activities for the kids from ice skating shows to storytime. One new year’s eve (when we only had one child), my husband and I made a night out of going to the CN Tower (we left the baby home with grandma).  Pro Tip: Get to all the attractions when the doors open to avoid huge line ups and crowds and bring lots of snacks! Also, kids under 3 years old are free!

For Moms & Dads, or Moms & Moms, or Dads & Dads etc: A self-guided couples course to help you thrive!

I think it’s safe to say that having young kids is the hardest time in a couple’s relationship.  It’s hard to find time for each other when there are kids, full-time jobs and household duties to focus on, and whatever time is left you kind of just want to watch Netflix or sleep.  Am I right? Allison Villa, physiotherapist and founder of House & Hook, is an expert in helping couples thrive after kids. She has put together a course to help you reconnect with your partner.  The best part is it’s online, you get lifetime access so you can do it as many times as you like whenever you want and from wherever you want!

If are you going out of town for the holidays (or ever) then you’ll want to appear super organized even if you packed the night before leaving for your trip!  Check out these packing cubes which allow you to organize your suitcase in style.  You can use them all for yourself or share them with your crew as they come in a pack of three. I love the chic look of black with gold hardware and you can get it personalized – I would suggest black embroidery or a really sleek look.  This gift is personalized by a mama of two in Hamilton.

I am a huge fan of Foxy Originals as they are a source for quality, affordable and fashionable jewellery!  Across their various collections, you can find something for everyone from adorable stud earrings to necklaces with empowering messages.  This brand is made in Canada and designed by two moms (though they started the business long before they were moms).  Every year, Foxy Originals hosts an amazing holiday say where you can find earrings starting at $5.  I go every year and always come home with a few sweet new items to freshen up my collection.
